How to solve the problem of water leakage in injection molds Release date:2022-04-01
How to solve the problem of water leakage in injection molds mainly includes the following aspects:
Injection mold
1. The most common occurrence is at the joint of the cooling water pipe of the mold. If water leakage is found, the sealing tape should be wrapped around the thread of the pipe joint and then tightened.
2. Due to long-term molding conditions, the waterproof ring in the mold will be damaged, and the O-shaped waterproof rubber ring will simply harden and crack, resulting in water leakage. Some poor waterproof ring devices can also cause seal failure. Generally, it is necessary to regularly check the installation position and sealing function of the sealing ring.
3. The hole wall of the cooling water hole is damaged. This often happens when trying a new mold, the planned wall thickness is sufficient, but the hole wall is broken due to machining errors or post-processing. In most cases, leaking water holes can no longer be used.
4. Overhaul of cooling water holes. It is easy to form scale in the cooling water hole, which hinders heat transfer, and in severe cases, the waterway is blocked, and regular maintenance is required. As for the straight water hole, a steel rod 0.5mm smaller than the diameter of the cooling water hole can be pierced and hit with a hammer to remove scale and rust. Regarding the cooling water pipe embedded in the mold, the mold should be disassembled to remove the rust.
After the maintenance, a water leakage test should be carried out, and a hand pressure pump should be used to fill the water hole with water, and keep it under 2MPa pressure for 5 minutes. Check whether the water hole is leaking by checking whether the water pressure drops. The water leakage can be blocked by mechanical fastening with elastic materials such as rubber and cork, and room temperature curing silica gel can also be used as the blocking material.
5. Regularly check and use the heating pipe and pressure reducing pump. Heating tubes are useful heat transfer elements and are useful for core cooling in thin and deep structures. One-way heating pipes are installed in the parts where cooling water is easy to pass through to reduce water leakage. In addition, choosing a decompression pump to absorb cooling water is also a way to prevent cooling water leakage.
